Refrigerator Water Filters for Water that Tastes and Smells Better
Refrigerator water filters have made it possible to chill clean, cold water straight from the water liens. Gone are the days when you had to fill water bottles and store them in the fridge. Instead, most of today's refrigerators are equipped with an efficient filtration system, which takes the water from the domestic water line, cleans it and then stores it in a dispenser where it becomes chilled and ready for drinking at a later time. Refrigerator water filters vary from one refrigerator model to the next. However, in most refrigerators, the refrigerator water filter is located in the upper right side of the fridge or behind the vegetable bin. Wherever it is located, though, the refrigerator water filter is responsible for removing chlorine, dirt or other particles that may be present in the water supply. By removing this "junk," your water will then not only taste better, but also smell better. A refrigerator water filter typically lasts for six months, after which it must be replaced. In a Frigidaire model, the filter is replaced by unscrewing the old filter cup, revealing the old filter. The old filter is twisted in a counter clockwise direction and pulled out. The new filter is pushed in and secured by turning it in a clockwise direction. In a Whirlpool model, replacing an old filter is also quite simple. To the right of the refrigerator water filter is a button, which needs to be pressed to release the filter. The old filter can be easily pulled out. Simply slide in the new filter. It is locked in place when you hear a clicking sound. After replacing an old filter with a new one, let at least two or three gallons of water flow through the new filter before using the water. This same process must also be done when the refrigerator is turned on after it has been turned off for a long time.
