Basic Information on Water Filter Kits

A variety of water filtration kits are currently available on the market. The most popular water filtration kits are those that connect directly to the water line. These water filtration kits have a filter cartridge that not only removes chlorine and heavy metals, but also improves the taste and odor of the water.

Most water filter kits come with mounting brackets so you can mount the water filtration system on a wall. They also come with standard garden hose connections along with vinyl tubing so you can directly connect the water filtration system to the water line and the outlet pipe.

Water filter kits also come with a filter cartridge that can clean up to 1,000 gallons of water before needing to be replaced. Alternatively, a filter cartridge should be replaced after a year of use, even if it hasn't filtered 1,000 gallons of water yet.

If you go away on a long vacation, you should disconnect the filter from the water filter. Also, you should back flush the filter cartridge on a regular basis to remove any impurities that have built up within the filter and are clogging up the water flow.

There are water filter kits for keeping existing water filtration systems running smoothly. Manufacturers of undersink water filters also provide water filter kits that include a stainless steel valve, which taps into the water line, as well as an extra supply line capable of feeding a specialized faucet.
